Postdoc in phosphorous-based materials as promising cathode for advanced sodium-ion batteries

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir, Morocco, is offering a Postdoctoral Researcher position within the High Throughput Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory (HTMR). The project focuses on phosphorous-based NaSICON-type materials as promising cathode materials for advanced sodium-ion batteries . The lab combines automation, digitalization, robotics, and high-throughput experimentation to accelerate materials discovery and development across energy-related fields. The successful candidate will contribute to the synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical evaluation of P-based positive electrode materials. Research activities include sol-gel and solvothermal synthesis, structural and compositional characterization, battery assembly, and electrochemical testing versus metallic sodium in half-cell and full-cell configurations. The role also includes advanced post-analysis and mechanistic studies aimed at understanding cathode performance, degradation pathways, and interfacial chemistry. Characterization tools mentioned in the role include XRD, SEM, EDS, ICP, BET, TGA, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, in-situ XRD, XPS, 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy, and NMR. Electrochemical techniques include GCPL, CV, GITT, and EIS. The position is strongly suited to researchers with a background in materials chemistry, materials science, electrochemistry, and battery research . Applicants should have a recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0–5 years) in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field, along with hands-on experience in cathode synthesis and electrochemical testing. Strong written and oral communication skills are required, as the role includes manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and reporting. The appointment has a project duration of 1 year and a starting date of 1 September 2026 . The posting does not specify a deadline, so interested candidates should contact the listed researchers and apply promptly through the application link.
