Postdoctoral Position in Human Movement Biomechanics at KU Leuven

The Human Movement Biomechanics research group at KU Leuven, led by Professor Benedicte Vanwanseele, is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher. The group focuses on personalizing and optimizing rehabilitation and training by identifying movement-related biomarkers to support patient and athlete stratification and optimize treatment and training strategies. The successful candidate will provide scientific and educational support within the domain of human movement biomechanics. Key responsibilities include supporting PhD students in setting up measurement protocols in the motion analysis lab, training and mentoring new researchers, processing and analyzing data from 3D motion capture and medical imaging, supporting multi-body simulations, assisting in the development and writing of research projects, coordinating educational activities, and providing administrative and technical support for group activities. Applicants should have a PhD in biomechanics, biomedical engineering, or a related field, with experience in 3D motion capture, medical imaging, and multi-body simulations. The role requires strong collaborative and communication skills, as well as the ability to mentor and support junior researchers. The position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative academic environment at KU Leuven, a leading institution in Belgium, with a focus on cutting-edge research in biomechanics, rehabilitation, and sports science. The application deadline is 29 January 2026. Interested candidates should visit the LinkedIn post for more details and application instructions. This is a paid postdoctoral research position; however, specific funding details are not provided in the announcement.

Postdoctoral Position in Human Movement Biomechanics – Scientific and Educational Support

The Human Movement Biomechanics group at KU Leuven is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to provide scientific and educational support in the field of human movement biomechanics. The group focuses on personalizing and optimizing rehabilitation and training by identifying movement-related biomarkers for patient and athlete stratification and treatment optimization. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will play a key role in supporting doctoral students with measurement protocols in the motion analysis lab, training new researchers, and processing data from 3D motion capture and medical imaging. You will also contribute to multi-body simulations, assist in writing and setting up research projects, and coordinate educational tasks within the group. The position requires a PhD in biomedical or engineering sciences, with a strong background in movement and rehabilitation sciences. Proficiency in Matlab programming is essential, and experience with Python is a plus. You should have hands-on experience with 3D motion capture equipment, biomechanical analysis using OpenSim, and the analysis and interpretation of biomechanical data. Additional experience with image-based modeling or ultrasound is considered an asset. The role also involves educational responsibilities, so experience in teaching or training is important. Strong communication, organizational, and coordination skills are required, as is fluency in English (knowledge of Dutch is preferred). This is a part-time position for a fixed term of two years, with the employment rate open to discussion. The salary is based on scale 44. KU Leuven offers an inclusive and diverse working environment and encourages applications from all backgrounds. The application deadline is January 29, 2026. For more information, you may contact Prof. dr. Benedicte Vanwanseele or Mr. Stijn De Baere at [email protected]. Applications should be submitted via the KU Leuven job portal.
