Chen Liu

Chen Liu Lab at UT Southwestern is recruiting postdocs and graduate students for research in neuroscience , metabolism , obesity genetics , hypothalamic development , appetite circuits , and antipsychotic-induced weight gain . The lab’s work is supported by three NIH-funded projects investigating the neural control of metabolism. Trainees can build on ongoing projects or propose their own direction, with opportunities for intellectual ownership and independent scientific development. The post highlights strong mentoring in scientific writing, grant applications, and career development. Recent trainee-led publications appeared in Science Translational Medicine , Neuron , and Nature Communications , and trainees/alumni have earned awards and faculty appointments. Graduate students can expect regular feedback, opportunities to learn new approaches, and guidance in developing their own research questions.
