Fully Funded PhD in Explainable Multimodal AI for Medical Informatics and Precision Oncology at Technical University of Munich

PhD position in Computer Science at the Institute for AI and Informatics in Medicine (AIIM) , Technical University of Munich , in Munich, Germany. The project is part of the xMDT-HPB initiative and focuses on explainable, multimodal AI for personalized prognosis and treatment decisions in hepato-pancreato-biliary cancers . The work combines clinical text , multimodal imaging , and laboratory trajectories , with an emphasis on reproducible research, benchmarking, and open-source artifacts. This is a fully funded doctoral position with remuneration according to TV-L E13 . The role is on-site in central Munich (Max-Weber-Platz) and includes structured supervision, interdisciplinary collaboration, mentoring, publication support, and conference attendance support. Eligibility highlights include a completed or nearly completed master’s degree in Computer Science, Medical Informatics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Science , or a related field; strong Python skills; initial experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow ; practical experience in machine learning, NLP/LLM, data analysis, software development, or medical data processing; good English; and German at C1 level .
