Research topics include Carnot batteries, thermal batteries, CO2-based energy storage, liquid air energy storage (LAES), compressed air energy storage (CAES), thermal energy storage, polygeneration, low-carbon energy systems, and energy system modelling, optimization, dynamic control, and AI-enabled operation.
The position offers opportunities to join national-level research projects, work on industry-oriented R&D with leading energy and power companies, and collaborate internationally with Prof. Christos N. Markides and his team at Imperial College London.
Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in thermal engineering, energy and power engineering, chemical engineering, control science and engineering, or a related field. Strong experience in thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, optimization, control, modelling, or AI for energy systems is preferred.
