Postdoctoral Researcher in Immune Metabolism, Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Immunotherapy

Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and the University Hospital Magdeburg are offering a postdoctoral researcher position within the Magdeburg Center for Cell and Immune Therapy (MAZI). The role sits at the interface of translational immunology, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and next-generation cellular immunotherapies, with a particular focus on immune metabolism, T-cell biology, and therapeutic targeting of pathways that influence T-cell fitness, persistence, and exhaustion. The successful candidate will join an internationally active research program embedded in the Collaborative Research Center/Transregio SFB/TRR 221. The project investigates mechanisms of immune regulation and tolerance after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and extends toward antigen-specific cellular therapies such as CAR-T cells. The group combines basic immunology with investigator-initiated clinical trials, enabling close interaction between laboratory research and patient-oriented translational work. This is a full-time, temporary postdoctoral post funded until December 2029, with a competitive salary according to TV-L E13 (100%). The position is available immediately, and the selected candidate is expected to start as soon as possible, but no later than December 2026. The work environment is interdisciplinary, research-intensive, and strongly oriented toward scientific independence, publication, collaboration, and career development. Applicants should hold a PhD in Immunology, Molecular Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline. A strong publication record is expected, including at least two first-author or shared first-author papers in international peer-reviewed journals. Experience in tumor immunology, cellular immunotherapy, immune metabolism, T-cell biology, gene editing, or stem cell transplantation is highly relevant. Murine model experience is desirable, and FELASA B/C certification is an advantage. Excellent English is required; German is not required.
