Doctoral position in Mechanisms of local translation at the University of Cologne , within the Institute for Genetics and the CECAD Research Center . The Rugarli Lab is seeking a highly qualified and motivated doctoral student to join a dynamic, international research environment focused on basic mechanisms supporting the local translation of mitochondrial proteins. The project also includes the development of novel tools to study mRNA trafficking and translational regulation. The position is part of the research environment of the Cologne Excellence Cluster on Aging and Aging-Associated Diseases (CECAD), offering access to state-of-the-art core facilities, strong scientific exchange, and collaboration opportunities. Academic profile: applicants should hold a Master‘s degree (or equivalent) with excellent academic performance in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Biotechnology. A strong interest in Neuroscience and Cell Biology is required. Experience with primary neuronal cultures and/or iPSC-derived neurons is considered an advantage. Excellent written and spoken English skills and a strong team-oriented attitude are expected. Funding and conditions: the position is a three-year doctoral appointment, part-time at 65% (25.89 hours per week), with salary based on TV-L E13 if requirements are met.
