PhD in Glycan Conformation and Occupancy from Solution Scattering Data

PhD opportunity in structural biology , glycobiology , biochemistry , biophysics , and computational biology at ESRF - The European Synchrotron (Grenoble, France) in collaboration with the Institute for Life Sciences, University of Southampton (UK). The project focuses on a problem in modern structural biology workflows: glycans are often removed or ignored, even though glycosylation strongly affects how many therapeutic proteins bind their targets. The successful PhD student will develop a computational pipeline to resolve glycan conformation and occupancy directly from solution scattering data. The work combines glycosylation prediction, ensemble generation, and SWAXS-based scoring, and will be validated on real therapeutic and vaccine-relevant systems such as antibodies and viral envelope immunogens.
