PhD in enzyme-catalysed ammonia synthesis at Aarhus University

PhD opportunity at Aarhus University in enzyme-catalysed ammonia synthesis , hosted by the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering and linked to the ENGREENIT project. The project focuses on nitrogenase , enzyme immobilization, ammonia synthesis under inert atmosphere, and reactor development in both batch and continuous flow modes. The work is hands-on and lab-based, with a strong emphasis on reliable ammonia quantification, glovebox work, and process optimization. You will work under the full supervision of Associate Professor Emil Drazevic and collaborate with Professor Selin Kara , Professor Bekir Engin Eser , Professor Shelley D. Minteer (Missouri University of Science and Technology), AstraZeneca , and the ENGREENIT team, including postdoc Álvaro Lorente Arévalo. Eligibility: a master’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biotech, or a closely related field; ability to work safely in a chemistry lab; detail orientation; teamwork; proactive problem-solving; and fluency in English. Experience in teaching, publications, and time management is considered an advantage. Funding: PhD fellowship/scholarship with salary and employment terms according to the applicable collective agreement. The position is for 3 years . Deadline: 2026-07-09 at 23:59 CEST.
