Aarhus University PhD fellowship/scholarship

PhD opportunity at Aarhus University in enzyme-catalysed ammonia synthesis, hosted by the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering and linked to the ENGREENIT project.

The project focuses on nitrogenase, enzyme immobilization, ammonia synthesis under inert atmosphere, and reactor development in both batch and continuous flow modes. The work is hands-on and lab-based, with a strong emphasis on reliable ammonia quantification, glovebox work, and process optimization.

You will work under the full supervision of Associate Professor Emil Drazevic and collaborate with Professor Selin Kara, Professor Bekir Engin Eser, Professor Shelley D. Minteer (Missouri University of Science and Technology), AstraZeneca, and the ENGREENIT team, including postdoc Álvaro Lorente Arévalo.

Eligibility: a master’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biotech, or a closely related field; ability to work safely in a chemistry lab; detail orientation; teamwork; proactive problem-solving; and fluency in English. Experience in teaching, publications, and time management is considered an advantage.

Funding: PhD fellowship/scholarship with salary and employment terms according to the applicable collective agreement. The position is for 3 years.
