Postdoctoral Researcher in Philosophy of Science

Postdoctoral Researcher in Philosophy of Science at Ghent University (Belgium), in the Department of Philosophy and Moral Sciences (LW01 - Wijsbegeerte en Moraalwetenschap). This postdoctoral position is embedded in the EU-funded Horizon Europe project EOSC-ARENA (AI Research Enhancement through Networked Agents), supported by the European Commission’s GenAI4EU initiative. The project aims to develop a sovereign, generative, and agentic AI environment for scientific researchers, integrated with the European Open Science Cloud. The successful researcher will investigate the impact of AI on research integrity, with attention to how generative AI affects authorship, transparency, reproducibility, and accountability in research. The position also focuses on the epistemological implications of AI in scientific discovery, including knowledge generation, causal knowledge, explanation , and hypothesis formulation . The appointment is for 10 months , starting 1 November 2026 at the earliest, and is offered on a limited-duration contract with remuneration according to salary scale PD1 to PD4 . Applicants must hold a thesis-based doctorate in philosophy or history & philosophy of science .
