Fully funded PhD opportunity at Clemson University in the Department of Automotive Engineering for students interested in materials science , electrochemistry , data science , machine learning , and battery manufacturing . The research team is recruiting two highly motivated PhD students to work on advancing rechargeable battery technologies . The advertised research directions include advanced battery materials , data-driven battery development , and battery manufacturing . Students will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and will have access to materials synthesis and processing facilities , state-of-the-art characterization tools , and a pouch cell manufacturing line . Typical research tasks include synthesis, processing, and characterization of battery materials; fabrication and electrochemical characterization of coin- and pouch-type batteries; application of data science and machine learning for battery development, diagnostics, and predictive modeling; and development/validation of physics-based models for newly developed batteries.
