Postdoctoral Researcher in Remote Sensing and AI for Amazon Rainforest Monitoring

Contracted Postdoc Position in Remote Sensing & AI for Amazon Rainforest Monitoring at INESC-ID / Instituto Superior Técnico (University of Lisbon) , Lisbon, Portugal. This is a full-time postdoctoral research employment contract (not a scholarship) focused on satellite image processing , artificial intelligence , and geospatial analysis for monitoring the Brazilian Legal Amazon (~5M km²). The work includes building and curating multi-sensor satellite databases such as Landsat-8 , Sentinel-2 , DETER , and TerraClass , and deploying them on DEUCALION , a European High-Performance Computing platform. Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Remote Sensing, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Strong experience in satellite image processing and annotation is requested, especially with Google Earth Engine , Python , and QGIS/GDAL . Funding and contract: uncertain-term work contract under Law DL 57/2016, with full social benefits and paid leave. Salary is €2,408.11/month gross plus €6.15/day meal allowance .
