PhD in Active Rock Instabilities, Ground-Based Radar Interferometry, and Multi-Sensor Slope Monitoring

PhD opportunity in active rock instabilities , ground-based radar interferometry , slope dynamics , and multi-sensor deformation monitoring at Université du Québec à Rimouski , Canada. The project is supervised by Prof. Francis Gauthier (Geomorphology and Slope Dynamics Lab, UQAR) and focuses on developing and validating an operational workflow for detecting, monitoring, and characterizing rock instabilities. The research combines GB-RAR (GAMMA GPRI-2), automated processing, multi-sensor fusion, and trigger analysis. Research topics include: - GB-RAR optimization and automated processing (stacking, coherence, phase unwrapping, geocoding) - Multi-sensor integration with InSAR , LiDAR , photogrammetry, telemetry, extensometry, and microseismic data - Hydro-thermo-mechanical trigger analysis - Monitoring of an active deep-seated rockslide and a highly active rock wall The post seeks candidates with an MSc in geosciences or related areas such as geology, physical geography, civil/mining/geotechnical engineering, geomatics, or remote sensing. Useful skills include InSAR/LiDAR/photogrammetry processing , Python/MATLAB/R , GIS, and AI/ML. French proficiency is an asset. Funding is clearly stated: CAD $112,000 over 48 months as a guaranteed stipend. To apply, send a CV and cover letter directly by email to [email protected] .
