Postdoctoral Fellowship in Civil Engineering: Dynamic Soil-Structure Interaction and Geotechnical Uncertainty (ANID Fondecyt 2027)
Postdoctoral Opportunity in Civil Engineering (2027 ANID Fondecyt Call)
The Research Group on Dynamic Soil-Structure Interaction and Geotechnical Uncertainty at the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Universidad de Chile, is inviting early-career researchers to prepare an application for the 2027 ANID Fondecyt Postdoctoral Fellowship Call in Chile.
This opportunity is centered on
civil engineering
and
geotechnical engineering
, with research interests including
dynamic soil-structure interaction
,
earthquake geotechnical engineering
,
geotechnical uncertainty quantification
,
nonlinear numerical modelling
,
monitoring
,
finite element modelling
, and
artificial intelligence applied to geotechnical engineering
. The group also mentions possible collaboration with universities and research institutes in Europe, Canada, and the United States.
The research will be carried out mainly in Chile, with potential short research stays abroad. The fellowship is described as a postdoctoral funding opportunity rather than a scholarship, and the reference funding includes an annual amount of CLP $31,164,000, with support for maintenance, travel, operating expenses, research development, and possible installation costs for researchers coming from outside Chile, depending on the official call rules.
Eligibility highlights:
applicants should have obtained their Ph.D. between January 2024 and June 30, 2026 (subject to official ANID guidelines), should prepare a research proposal in English for the 2027 call, and should ideally have accepted, published, or submitted manuscripts indexed in Web of Science. The expected duration is 2 to 3 years.
How to apply:
interested candidates should send an updated CV in PDF format, including Web of Science publications and the date the Ph.D. was obtained, to Professor Francisco Javier Pinto Vega at
[email protected]
. Applicants are asked to contact the supervisor early, as an internal deadline will be announced to coordinate proposal preparation.
