Researcher PhD (m/f/d) in Next-Generation Energy Harvesting and Storage Systems

INEGI (Instituto de Ciência e Inovação em Engenharia Mecânica e Engenharia Industrial) is recruiting a PhD Researcher for work in next-generation energy harvesting and storage systems in Porto, Portugal. The post is embedded in the LAETA Associate Laboratory framework (LA/P/0079/2020) and is funded through the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). It is offered as a fixed-term employment contract under an exclusive dedication regime, with remuneration level 33 of the Portuguese Single Remuneration Table. The research activity focuses on synthesis of polymers and carbon-based materials , and on the fabrication and characterisation of ferroelectric-based energy harvesting and storage devices . The role is positioned within Physical Engineering and aims to help accelerate technology readiness levels, validate scientific results, and support transfer to industry across thematic areas such as Energy, Transport, Space and Defence Technologies, and Resilient Industry. Applicants must hold a PhD degree (or formal recognition under Portuguese law). The call specifically states a preference for candidates with a PhD in Physical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering . Strong experience or knowledge in batteries, solid-state electrolytes, electrochemical characterisation (PEIS, CV, charge/discharge testing), Scanning Kelvin Probe microscopy (SKP), battery cell assembly, materials characterisation, optimisation, and energy storage systems will strengthen the application. Excellent written and spoken English is required, and Portuguese is considered an advantage.
