PhD and Postdoc Positions in Multimodal Learning, Foundation Models and Agentic Systems

Open PhD and Postdoc positions are available in multimodal learning, foundation models, agentic systems, generative AI, and vision-language models at ELLIS Institute Finland and Tampere University . The research group led by Hao Dong focuses on building reliable and trustworthy machine learning systems that can safely adapt and generalize to new environments. The work connects core AI/ML research with applications in robotics, autonomous driving, healthcare, and industrial monitoring . PhD positions: 2–3 students are being recruited for Fall 2026 / Spring 2027. Applicants should have a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; strong Python and PyTorch skills; hands-on deep learning experience; good English; and motivation for independent research and top-venue publishing. Postdoc positions: 1–2 researchers are sought for up to 3 years.
