PhD Position in AI-Driven SAR Image Classification and Radar System Design

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore Campus, is inviting applications for a full-time PhD position in AI-Driven SAR Image Classification and High-Performance Radar System Design Using Computational Electromagnetics . The project sits at the intersection of Computational Electromagnetics , Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) , Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning , Radar Signal Processing , and Antenna Design . The selected candidate will work on electromagnetic modeling, radar imaging, phased array antenna design, X-band weather monitoring radar, on-chip antennas, multi-sensor data fusion, and AI-driven target recognition. Relevant tools and methods include FEM, MoM, FDTD, HFSS, CST, MATLAB, and Python , with deep learning approaches such as CNNs and Transformers . Eligibility: Applicants should hold an M.E./M.Tech. in Communication Engineering, Telecommunication Systems, RF Engineering, Microwave Engineering, Signal Processing, or a closely related field. Strong fundamentals in electromagnetics, RF/microwave engineering, radar signal processing, or AI/ML are preferred. Prior publications or research experience are welcome but not mandatory. Funding: The position includes a fellowship of ₹30,000–₹40,000 per month, with opportunities up to ₹55,000 per month. The post also mentions up to ₹10 lakhs in research infrastructure support, up to ₹6 lakhs in publication support, and support for international collaborations and conference travel.
