in the Department for Migration and Globalisation at the University for Continuing Education Krems. The project studies relations between different (forced) migrant groups in North Africa, with a focus on perceptions of threat, inequality, competition, solidarity, cohesion, and violence. The successful candidate will join an international and collaborative team led by Assoc. Prof. Heidrun Bohnet.
The role is strongly quantitative and research-intensive. The postdoctoral researcher will take a leading role in designing, implementing, and analysing online surveys and embedded survey experiments, including vignette and conjoint experiments, using LimeSurvey and advanced methods in causal inference and inferential statistics. The position also involves coordinating survey implementation across Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt; overseeing a face-to-face survey in Morocco with a survey company; managing data quality and ethics; and contributing to the coding of de facto migration policy data.
The research environment is highly international and publication-oriented. The appointee is expected to co-author at least two journal articles with the Principal Investigator, present findings at conferences and workshops, and contribute to the project’s theoretical development and broader outputs. The post is full-time (40 hours per week), initially for two years, with a minimum gross salary of EUR 5,014.30 per month paid 14 times per year.
Eligibility highlights include a completed PhD in political science, conflict studies, social psychology, or a related social science field; advanced quantitative skills in R and/or Stata; a strong publication record; excellent English; and willingness to relocate to Krems an der Donau and work on site at Campus Krems. Experience with migration, inter-group perceptions, North Africa, qualitative methods, programming, or French/Arabic is advantageous.
