PhD Opportunity in DNA Repair, Fertility and Reproductive Aging at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
PhD opportunity in DNA repair, fertility, and reproductive aging
at
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Barcelona, Spain
.
The lab of
Ignasi Roig
is recruiting a highly motivated predoctoral candidate for the
FERTAGE
project, which sits at the intersection of
DNA repair
,
reproductive biology
,
genetics
, and
aging
. The project focuses on
TRIP13
, a key regulator of meiotic DNA repair and chromosome dynamics, with recent findings suggesting previously unknown functions in maintaining genome integrity during gamete formation.
Research activities include investigating fundamental mechanisms of
meiosis
and DNA repair, working with
mouse genetics
models, and combining
molecular biology
,
genomics
,
proteomics
,
cytology
,
microscopy
,
bioinformatics
, and
genome engineering
. The work is relevant to
fertility
, reproductive lifespan, and healthy aging.
The environment is described as young, international, and supportive, with state-of-the-art facilities, strong collaborations across Europe and the USA, and opportunities for international research stays, conferences, and career development. The group also supports competitive PhD fellowship applications.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold both
BSc and MSc
degrees in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, or related fields; have an excellent academic record (preferably >8.5/10 average across Bachelor and Master); and demonstrate strong English communication skills. Experience or knowledge in reproductive biology is considered an advantage.
To apply, send a
motivation letter
