Assistant Professor in Photonics and Quantum Technology at Aalto University Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering is recruiting an Assistant Professor in Photonics and Quantum Technology for the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering in Espoo, Finland. The role is part of Aalto’s tenure-track system and is aimed at an ambitious researcher who can lead both research and education in this fast-moving area. The position sits in a strong research environment connected to the national OtaNano infrastructure, including Micronova (the largest research-dedicated cleanroom facility in the Nordic countries) and the Nanomicroscopy Centre . The department’s broader research environment includes photonics, nanotechnology, microwave engineering, electromagnetics, integrated circuit design, and space science and technology. Research topics of interest include solid-state hybrid quantum devices , integrated quantum photonics , two-dimensional materials , quantum dots , nanophotonics , optical quantum computing , and related emerging photonics areas. The university especially encourages research that combines micro- and nanofabrication of photonic devices and quantum systems to discover new fundamental phenomena and practical applications in quantum, information, or other technologies. The appointee should also be motivated and able to teach and supervise MSc and doctoral students . Funding and conditions: the position offers a competitive salary of 5300–6400 € per month depending on qualifications and experience, plus the possibility of research start-up funding .
