PhD Researchers in Malaria, Molecular Parasitology, Genomics and Computational Biology at University of Minho

🚨 The PEvoGen Team at the University of Minho (Braga, Portugal) is recruiting two PhD-level researchers for the MALARITY project, focused on cutting-edge malaria research. The project integrates molecular parasitology , genomics , high-content imaging , computational biology , and machine learning to study Plasmodium falciparum biology and accelerate discovery of new antimalarial strategies. Position 1 – Molecular Parasitology & Functional Biology - Plasmodium falciparum molecular and cellular biology - Recombinant protein expression - Protein-protein interactions - Drug resistance and parasite phenotyping Position 2 – Genomics & Computational Biology - Population and pathogen genomics - Drug resistance markers - Python programming and reproducible workflows - Machine learning applied to sequencing data The team highlights access to state-of-the-art technologies including CRISPR genome editing , Opera Phenix high-content phenotypic screening , next-generation sequencing, and machine learning, plus collaborations with international partners and access to clinical and laboratory datasets. Location: Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. Deadline: 18 August 2026. This is a strong fit for candidates interested in infectious diseases, malaria, parasite biology, genomics, and computational approaches to biomedical research.
