PhD position in Marketing
Oslo Business School at Oslo Metropolitan University is offering a PhD position in Marketing, affiliated with the Strategy, Innovation and Marketing group. The position is part of the PhD program in Social Sciences, specializing in Business Administration, Innovation, and Governance. The successful candidate will work on topics related to CSR and sustainability in marketing, including sustainable consumer behaviour and sustainable brands, using experimental and quantitative research methods. The candidate will have considerable freedom to define the details of the PhD project within these topics and methods.
The group’s research covers strategy, digitalization, innovation and entrepreneurship, marketing, and communication, employing a variety of research methods such as surveys, experiments, and qualitative approaches. The research aims to contribute to both theory and practice, and the group offers a dynamic professional environment and international academic community.
The position is a three-year full-time contract, with the possibility to extend to four years if teaching assignments are included. The salary is NOK 550 800 per year, in accordance with the Norwegian state wage scale. Additional benefits include pension arrangements with the Norwegian State Pension Fund, employee welfare arrangements, and free Norwegian classes for employees. The working location is downtown Oslo, offering multiple cultural opportunities and practical support for relocation.
Applicants must have an excellent MSc (120 ECTS) degree in marketing or business administration, with a grade of B or better on both the master's thesis and the overall degree. Candidates close to finishing their degree are welcome to apply, provided completion by 1 September 2026. Strong skills in quantitative research methods, interest in marketing research, hands-on mentality, and the ability to work independently are required. Excellent communication skills in English are essential; a good command of a Scandinavian language is an advantage. Experience in data collection and analysis, participation in research projects, and academic publishing will be considered an advantage. Admission to the doctoral program is a prerequisite, based on a comprehensive assessment including the relevance and quality of the project description. A finalized project plan for the employment period must be completed and acknowledged within 3 months from the date of employment.
