This 2-year postdoctoral project is part of the Swedish governmental battery initiative
COMPEL
and is shared between the Department of Material Science & Engineering (ITM, Unit of Properties) and the Department of Chemistry (CBH, Division of Applied Physical Chemistry). The research aims to develop novel ceramic electrolytes for next-generation composite solid-state batteries, with particular interest in
halides
and
sulfides
.
The project combines
computational modelling
and
experimental validation
. Promising materials will be identified through simulations, synthesized, and characterized experimentally. The work will examine ionic transport properties, interfacial stability, and overall suitability for solid-state battery applications, and will use these results to guide the design of new materials and composite architectures.
Eligibility highlights:
applicants should hold a doctoral degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in
Physics
,
Inorganic Chemistry
,
Chemical Engineering
,
Materials Science
, or a related field, with experience in electrochemistry. Strong written and spoken English, laboratory skills, and computational skills are required. Preferred experience includes solid-state batteries, electrochemical characterization, inorganic synthesis, glovebox/Schlenk line work, and DFT modelling (e.g., VASP, Quantum Espresso).
