James Robson

James Robson, Senior Lecturer in Microbiology at the University of the West of England Bristol (UWE Bristol), is advertising two PhD studentships through the SWBio DTP Hub Doctoral Training Partnership . The first project is a collaboration with Ferryx and focuses on a novel probiotic and its impact on gut homeostasis . The student will be based at the School of Applied Sciences, UWE Bristol , in association with Cardiff University . The second project investigates how the wide genomic diversity of the cancer-associated microbe Fusobacterium nucleatum affects its interactions with other microbes and colon cells. This project is based jointly between UWE Bristol and the University of Bristol , with a joint award. These opportunities are well suited to applicants interested in microbiology , gut bacteria , host-microbe interactions , probiotics , and microbial genomics . The post explicitly invites people with an interest in gut bacteria and their interactions with the host to get in touch. Applications open on Monday and close in early December. The full project lists and application guidance are available via the linked SWBio page.
