PhD Excellence Scholarships in Business, Management, Economics, and Related Fields at University of Leeds
The Leeds University Business School (LUBS) is offering 21 PhD Excellence Scholarships for the academic year 2026/27, open to outstanding candidates from around the world. These scholarships span seven departments: Accounting and Finance, Analytics, Technology and Operations, Economics, International Business, Marketing, Management and Organisations, and People, Work and Employment. Successful applicants will receive full academic fees and a maintenance grant of £20,780 for 2025/26, with annual increases in line with UKRI rates, supporting full-time study for 3.5 years (part-time awards are pro-rata). The scholarships are open to both UK and international students, but do not cover relocation expenses such as visa, insurance, NHS fees, or flights. Selection is based solely on academic merit.
Eligibility requires at least a first class or upper second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) and a British Masters degree (or equivalent from overseas) or an equivalent professional qualification. Department-specific Masters requirements may apply. Applicants must reside within reasonable distance of the University of Leeds during the scholarship period. English language proficiency evidence is required for non-native speakers.
To apply, candidates must first secure a PhD place at LUBS by submitting a study application and meeting all eligibility criteria. Upon receiving a 9-digit student ID, applicants should complete the relevant department scholarship application form by 12pm on Wednesday 11th March 2026. All supporting documents must be submitted for consideration. The application process is competitive, and only complete applications will be reviewed. Applicants will be notified of outcomes within six to eight weeks after the deadline.
