Weill Cornell Medicine

Postdoctoral Associate in Ultrasound Imaging and Vitreous Biomechanics

Weill Cornell Medicine Department of Radiology is recruiting a Post-doctoral Associate for an interdisciplinary project in ultrasound imaging , biomedical engineering , and ophthalmology . The work focuses on developing methods to quantify the static and elastic properties of the human vitreous using a row-column ultrasound array. The successful candidate will conduct benchtop and human subject studies, design and adapt experiments, collect and analyze research data, prepare abstracts and manuscripts, and present findings at conferences. The role also includes supporting laboratory operations and collaborating with engineers, ophthalmologists, students, and other researchers. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in mechanical, electrical, biomedical engineering, or a closely related field. Experience with ultrasound imaging systems and data processing is required. Preferred experience includes quantitative ultrasound, acoustic field simulations, viscoelastic measurements, and programming Verasonics Vantage systems. The position is based at Weill Cornell Medicine, New York, NY, United States . It is a 1-year renewable appointment with funding available for up to 4 years for the primary project. Salary starts at $75,812 minimum, with benefits and possible J-1 or H-1B visa eligibility. To apply, email Jeffrey Ketterling, PhD, with a cover letter, CV/resume, and three references. Use the subject line “Vitreous PostDoc Applicant” .
