Post-Doctoral Researcher Position at Católica Biomedical Research Centre - Raquel Oliveira Lab

Postdoctoral Researcher in Cell Biology at Católica Biomedical Research Centre, Universidade Católica Portuguesa This opening is for a post-doctoral researcher to join the Raquel Oliveira Lab at the Católica Biomedical Research Centre (CBR), part of Católica Medical School of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Oeiras, Portugal. The position is embedded in the ERC-funded Chromosilence project (ERC-2020-COG-101002391, Horizon 2020), which investigates chromosome-based mechanisms of transcriptional inactivation during mitosis and their impact on mitotic fidelity, genomic stability, and transcription regulation during cell differentiation. The successful candidate will contribute to Aims 2 and 3 of the project, focusing on chromosome-driven mitotic transcription inactivation (MTI), the nascent transcripts most affected by MTI inactivation, and the cellular consequences of this deregulation. The work is positioned at the interface of cell biology, chromosome biology, transcription analysis, and advanced microscopy, within an international research environment. What the role offers: full-time employment (40 hours/week) on a temporary contract, with a gross monthly salary of €2,656.83 plus meal allowance, annual leave allowance, and Christmas allowance. The appointment is scheduled to start on 15 September 2026. Eligibility and profile: applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in Cell Biology or a related field and have at least 5 years of laboratory experience. Strong practical expertise is required in chromosome segregation and mitotic cell biology, fixed and live-cell imaging microscopy, CRISPR-Cas9 or related chromosome-targeting tools, transcription analysis in cells, and molecular/cellular biology methods. The call also values mentoring experience, scientific output, participation in projects and conferences, dissemination, knowledge transfer, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, multilingual setting. Applications must be submitted in English. How to apply: email the required documents to [email protected] . The application must include a CV, doctoral certificate showing the date of admission to the degree, and a cover letter describing motivation for the project. Candidates with a non-Portuguese doctoral degree must provide the legally required recognition documentation. Deadline: applications are accepted from 11 August 2026 until 24 August 2026 at 17:00 (Lisbon time).
