A fully funded PhD position is available at the University of Sheffield as part of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Sound Futures. The project, in collaboration with Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, focuses on developing advanced AI and deep learning models for speech and audio analysis to improve the triaging of ambulance calls. The aim is to integrate these technologies into emergency call centre workflows, enhancing the speed and accuracy of responses in life-threatening medical emergencies. Supervisors for the project are Dr Ning Ma and Professor Jon Barker. Funding includes a tax-free stipend of £20,780 per year, full coverage of UK home tuition fees, and a Research Training Support Grant of £4,100 per year.
