INESC-ID (Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores: Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa) invites applications for one Post-Doctoral Research Grant under the Project SHELL (Serverless High-density Environment for eLastic cLouds), reference BPD|2026/951 . The work is situated in advanced systems research, with a focus on Checkpoint/Restore applied to Serverless AI . The selected researcher will join a research group made up of PhD and master’s students working on systems topics. The role includes both independent research and mentoring/supporting junior researchers. The project is embedded in INESC-ID’s broader mission in computer science and electrical/computer engineering, with strong links to applied research and technology transfer. Funding: the grant provides €1,901.00 per month . The appointment lasts 12 months , starting in January 2027 , and may be renewed up to a total of 3 years depending on performance and project constraints. The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Lisboa 2030 Programme (ERDF) and by national funds through FCT, I.P. Eligibility: applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science, Architecture and Operating Systems, or a related field , with the doctorate awarded no more than three years before the application date. A relevant scientific and professional CV is required. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Portuguese and English and be collaborative, proactive, and able to work both independently and within a team. Selection criteria: academic record (60%) and experience with Checkpoint/Restore systems (40%). Publications in strong workshops, conferences and journals, as well as technical reports, open-source software, and participation in research projects, are considered in the evaluation.
