University of Utah is hiring for Postdoctoral Fellows and Graduate Students in the Biomed. Micro-Nano Systems Lab led by Jungkyu (Jay) K. , Associate Professor. The project focuses on cornea mechanobiology , organ-on-a-chip , and keratoconus , with work spanning device fabrication, cell biology, transcriptomics, and clinical validation. The lab is developing a keratoconus-on-a-chip platform with controllable curvature to study how geometry alone can drive corneal cells toward a pathological state. Research themes include primary human corneal cells, trigeminal nerve cell biology, mechanotransduction pathways, targeted gene knockdown, therapeutic testing, and New Approach Methodologies for ocular systems. Postdoctoral researchers should have a PhD in cell/molecular biology, vision science, or a related field, along with corneal biology and corneal innervation experience, strong primary cell culture and molecular biology skills, and a strong publication record. Graduate students are sought from mechanical, biomedical, chemical, or materials engineering, with hands-on cell culture and biochemistry experience; microfluidic fabrication is a plus. The post notes preference for candidates currently living in the United States or those without U.S. visa restrictions. The work is based at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and connects the College of Engineering with the Moran Eye Center and University of Utah Health Research.
