The Nunez Lab at the University of Vermont is recruiting two PhD students to join research projects in Drosophila population genomics. The first project focuses on the genetic basis of rapid seasonal evolution in the invasive insect Drosophila suzukii, involving fieldwork, molecular, and computational analyses, and is NSF-funded. The second project investigates the genetic and neurological mechanisms underlying temperature-dependent feeding phenotypes in Drosophila melanogaster, with a focus on chromosomal inversions and supergenes. Both projects contribute to the DEST dataset and offer opportunities for collaboration with the University of Kentucky, Northeastern University, and the European Drosophila Population Genomics Consortium.
