Fully Funded PhD Positions in Enhanced Oil Recovery and Enhanced Geothermal Systems at Texas Tech University
Khaled Ahmed Enab, Associate Professor of Petroleum Engineering at Texas Tech University, is recruiting 4 fully funded PhD students to join his research group starting in Spring 2027.
The positions are based in the Bob L. Herd Department of Petroleum Engineering, Whitacre College of Engineering, Texas Tech University, United States. The research program focuses on Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), with strong emphasis on reactive transport in porous and fractured media, multiphase flow in conventional and unconventional reservoirs, geochemistry of subsurface fluid-rock interactions, and CO2 mineralization for EOR and geologic carbon storage.
Students will work across experimental work, numerical simulation, and field development studies, gaining experience from lab-scale experiments to reservoir-scale modeling and real-world field applications. The group highlights access to high-pressure, high-temperature laboratory capabilities and computational facilities, as well as an interdisciplinary environment with industry and national lab collaboration.
Eligibility highlights include a strong background in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, geochemistry, or a related field. An MS degree is preferred. Applicants should also show interest in EOR, multiphase flow, reactive transport modeling, and CO2-rock interactions, plus motivation for both fundamental science and applied field-relevant problems.
Funding is fully covered for all four positions, including stipend and tuition.
