Postdoctoral Scholarship in System Neuroscience and Motivated Behaviors at Karolinska Institutet

Karolinska Institutet is advertising a postdoctoral scholarship in system neuroscience with a focus on motivated behaviors , decision-making , and circuit dysfunction in stress and mood disorders . The position is in the Meletis laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience, Solna/Biomedicum, Sweden. The project centers on the functional investigation of genetically defined neuron subtypes and neural circuits in the basal ganglia , hypothalamus , and lateral habenula . Methods include in vivo imaging , electrophysiology (including Neuropixels), optogenetics , sophisticated behavioral paradigms in freely moving and head-fixed mice, and analysis built on single-cell RNA-seq and monosynaptic rabies tracing . The post is aimed at researchers with a strong background in circuit/systems neuroscience , plus quantitative, statistical, and programming skills. Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent) and at least one first-author paper . The scholarship is specifically for foreign researchers who will come to Sweden for postdoctoral training; people already resident in Sweden or who have completed academic education in Sweden are not eligible. Funding is provided as a tax-free scholarship , awarded for 12 months at a time and paid in six-month installments.
