Visiting Assistant Professor in Film and Video Production

The Department of Cinematic Arts at The University of Iowa is inviting applications for a 75%-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Film and Video Production for the 2026-2027 academic year . This is a teaching-focused appointment in Film and Video Production , with opportunities to teach introductory and advanced courses across the curriculum. The position is especially relevant for candidates with strengths in film production , video production , editing , nonfiction/documentary , sound design , post-production , and related digital media practices. The department serves BA students in Cinema and Screenwriting, plus MFA and MA/PhD graduate programs in film-related fields. Eligibility highlights: MFA in Film & Video Production or a related area by the start date; demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching; ability to teach with digital cameras, digital audio recorders, and post-production software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Pro Tools, and DaVinci. Preferred experience includes teaching documentary, experimental, and post-production courses, as well as broader coverage across narrative fiction, nonfiction, alternative forms, image design, and editing.
