PhD Position in Nano-Enabled Flexible and Stretchable Thin-Film Sensors for Precision Agriculture

Open PhD Position in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Campus: Amritapuri). The project is centered on nano-enabled flexible and stretchable thin-film sensors for sustainable agriculture and precision farming . The research aims to continuously monitor microclimatic and plant-related parameters such as temperature, humidity, soil moisture, light intensity, soil nutrients, and plant stress indicators. The collected data will be correlated with plant physiological responses and integrated with IoT-based platforms for real-time monitoring. This PhD opportunity is especially relevant for candidates interested in Electronics and Communication Engineering , sensor technologies , thin-film materials , nanomaterials , flexible electronics , embedded systems , and agri-tech . The expected outcome is a lightweight, biocompatible, highly sensitive sensing system that can support early stress detection, improve crop management, enhance yield, and enable smart farming applications. Eligibility: B.Tech. and M.Tech./ME in ECE or related disciplines. Preferred skills include basic knowledge of thin-film materials, nanomaterials, or flexible electronics, plus familiarity with sensor fabrication, characterization, or embedded systems. Funding: Fellowship of ₹30,000–₹40,000 per month, with enhanced opportunities up to ₹55,000 per month. Additional support includes research infrastructure funding up to ₹10 lakhs, publication support up to ₹6 lakhs, international collaboration and conference travel funding, and innovation/patent/startup ecosystem support. How to apply: Use project code AMPECE014 in the admissions portal and follow the project link to submit your application. For queries, contact Dr. Lekshmi Vijayan at [email protected] .
