The Forage-Livestock Systems Program at Clemson University, led by
Dr. Liliane Silva
, is recruiting a motivated PhD student to join a research team starting in
Fall 2026 or Spring 2027
. The project focuses on
forage production
,
nutrient cycling
,
soil nutrient accumulation
, and the
sustainability and feasibility of operations
in forage-livestock systems.
The successful student will primarily work on a
grazing trial
using perennial and annual forages to evaluate production and ecosystem services. The role also includes
Extension and education activities
throughout the degree, supporting information dissemination at statewide and regional levels. This is a strong fit for applicants interested in applied agricultural research, forage research methodology, and outreach.
Eligibility highlights:
a master’s degree in
Agronomy, Animal Sciences, Crop Sciences
, or a related field completed by
Fall 2026
; strong background in forage research methodology, sampling, and laboratory analysis; prior grazing-trial experience preferred; demonstrated research interest, academic excellence, and publication potential; proficiency with
R
or
SAS
; and strong English communication skills.
