University of Vienna is advertising a PhD / predoctoral position in the Organic Structural Chemistry group led by Prof. Lothar Brecker at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry . The project focuses on natural product chemistry , organic structural chemistry , phytochemistry , and molecular interactions . The research involves spectroscopic and wet-chemical investigation of molecular structures, interactions at the molecular level, and possible biosynthesis of isolated natural products and synthesized analogues. The work aims to improve understanding of secondary metabolites in biological systems and explore possible applications in areas such as plant protection, animal breeding, and pharmacy. This is a 3-year employment (with possible extension up to 4 years) and includes participation in research projects, publications, teaching, conferences, doctoral school activities, and student supervision. The working languages are English and/or German, and the position offers a collaborative academic environment at the University of Vienna. Eligibility highlights: a completed Master/Magister/Diploma in chemistry or a related molecular science field; experience in scientific research and project work; practical experience in experimental organic chemistry and phytochemistry; ability to interpret NMR, MS, IR, and UV spectra; first teaching experience; strong communication skills; German is beneficial; teamwork and IT skills are expected.
