Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, is recruiting an
Assistant Professor / post-doc

(Re-)framing industrial heritage in East Germany and Poland: actors, processes and practices of heritagisation in a comparative perspective (1989–2020s)
.
The project examines how industrial heritage was created, negotiated, and mobilised during post-socialist transformation in Poland and East Germany. The successful candidate will carry out a qualitative case study focused on the development of industrial heritage-making models within Western European heritage networks and their adoption, negotiation, and transformation in the context of the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship and its connection to the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH).
The study combines historical and institutional analysis with multi-sited fieldwork. It also looks at how institutional and social actors shaped the selection, interpretation, and use of industrial pasts, and how local, regional, and European meanings were constructed.
