PhD opening in non-destructive imaging for cultural heritage and painting stratigraphy at the University of Calabria (Italy). The Università della Calabria (DIMES Dept.) is recruiting one Doctoral Candidate (DC2) within UNVEIL , a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network focused on next-generation non-destructive imaging for the study and preservation of paintings and 3D artworks. Research topic: Pseudo-Noise Pulse-compression Thermography with multi-wavelength lighting for the stratigraphy of paintings. The project combines imaging, thermography, and cultural heritage science to investigate hidden layers beneath historic artworks. Supervision: Dr. Stefano Laureti (University of Calabria) and Prof. Marco Ricci (Sapienza University of Rome). Planned secondments include CNRS – Georgia Tech IRL (Metz, France) and Centro Conservazione e Restauro "La Venaria Reale" (Turin, Italy). Funding: Fully funded MSCA Doctoral Network position for 36 months, with a competitive salary of up to ~€2,800 net/month (tax may vary) plus family allowance where eligible, under an Incarico di Ricerca contract. Eligibility: Open to applicants of any nationality who meet MSCA-DN rules: no doctoral degree, and no more than 12 months of residence or main activity in Italy during the 36 months before recruitment.
