REAL AD at the University of Gothenburg is recruiting for two research positions in biomarker research for neurodegenerative diseases and Alzheimer’s disease screening. The project studies early detection of Alzheimer’s disease before symptoms appear, using digital memory tests completed at home, blood samples collected in primary care, and a validation cohort with CSF, MRI, full clinical assessment, and neuropsychological testing. The work also connects these data with registry information, sleep data, and virus load data. Open positions: • Postdoc, Biomarker research in neurodegenerative diseases — fully funded for 2 years with a possible 1-year extension. The role is suited to candidates with a PhD in statistics, neuroscience, data science, or medicine who can code and are interested in AI/ML. • PhD student, Neurodegeneration biomarker research — fully funded by the Vagabond Foundation for 4 years, including a generous travel and expense bursary. The PhD will focus on blood biomarkers, remote cognition, and real-world implementation to help define thresholds for bringing early detection into routine care. The positions are based at the Sahlgrenska Academy in Gothenburg, within the translational WCMTM environment at the University of Gothenburg and an international research network.
