Fully Funded PhD Positions in Large Language Models for the Cloud-Edge Continuum at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières

Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) is hiring 2 fully funded PhD students to work on Large Language Models (LLMs) for the cloud-edge continuum . The research focuses on efficient LLM inference and offloading across edge/cloud tiers, model compression and distillation, adaptive serving for resource-constrained edge devices, orchestration and resource management for LLM-powered edge applications, and federated learning with latency-aware scheduling for privacy-preserving real-time services. This opportunity is a strong fit for students interested in Computer Science , distributed systems , edge computing , NLP/LLMs , and related systems research. The position is based in Trois-Rivières, Québec, Canada, and includes collaboration with industry partners in a supportive research environment. Eligibility highlights include an MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field , strong programming skills in Python and PyTorch/TensorFlow , and good written and spoken English. Prior background or strong interest in distributed systems, edge computing, or NLP/LLMs is preferred.
