Research Associate
position in
Remote Sensing of Water Quality

The project sits at the intersection of

. The successful candidate will work on processing and analyzing multi-sensor satellite data such as
MODIS, Sentinel, Landsat, and PRISMA
, integrating remote sensing with in-situ datasets, and developing machine learning and physics-informed models. The role also includes model validation, visualization, early warning tool development, technical reporting, journal publications, project documentation, and coordination with research partners and field campaigns.
Minimum requirements include a
Master’s degree
in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Remote Sensing, Data Science, or a related field, with
PhD preferred
. Applicants should have
1–3 years
of research or industry experience in a relevant area, experience with remote sensing data processing and GIS, strong programming skills in
Python, MATLAB, or R
, and experience with machine learning and data analysis. Strong technical writing and communication skills are also required.
Preferred experience includes water quality modeling, oceanographic data, deep learning frameworks such as
TensorFlow
or
PyTorch
, physics-informed machine learning, environmental modeling, and work in arid or coastal environments, especially the UAE/Gulf region.
