PhD Opportunity in Environmental Sciences: Materials Degradation, Corrosion, and Additive Manufacturing

PhD Opportunity in Environmental Sciences at Arkansas State University Mohammadreza Daroonparvar, Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering at Arkansas State University, is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join his research group through the Ph.D. Program in Environmental Sciences. The anticipated start date is Spring 2027 or Fall 2027 . The research is interdisciplinary and centers on materials degradation , corrosion , and materials performance in challenging/extreme environments . Possible topics include environmental degradation of metals and alloys, corrosion behavior with and without mechanical loading, metal additive manufacturing, surface electrochemistry, protective and functional coatings, high-temperature oxidation and hot corrosion, computational materials engineering, machine learning, and advanced microstructural characterization. Students with backgrounds in materials science and engineering , metallurgical engineering , mechanical engineering , chemical engineering , chemistry , corrosion science , or closely related fields are encouraged to apply.
