EURECOM’s Digital Security Department is offering a fully funded 3-year PhD position as part of the GOOD-BIAS project, supported by the French National Research Agency (ANR). The research focuses on developing trustworthy AI for face recognition, emphasizing fairness, robustness, and transparency. The project aims to address bias and lack of transparency in AI-driven face recognition systems, designing next-generation algorithms for robust and equitable results. The PhD candidate will work on developing fair computer vision algorithms for applications such as identity verification, age/gender classification, presentation attack detection, and deepfake detection. The role includes designing holistic evaluation metrics, investigating sources of bias beyond demographics, and exploring generalization strategies for robust performance across diverse biometric data and AI models. Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Computer Science or related fields, strong programming skills (Python, C/C++), and a background in signal/image processing. The position offers collaboration with leading experts, opportunities for international lab visits, and conference presentations.
