CAISA (The National Center for AI in Society) at the University of Copenhagen is inviting applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in AI Systems Engineering , based in Copenhagen and starting on 1 October 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is part of a larger research initiative on responsible artificial intelligence in collaboration with Statistics Denmark . The successful candidate will work on the technical infrastructure needed to ensure AI systems remain fair, reliable, and safe in real-world deployment, not only in controlled lab settings. Possible research directions include automated pipelines for continuous bias and fairness auditing , tools for connecting research models with secure institutional infrastructure, and monitoring systems that detect model drift or performance degradation before they affect citizens or policy decisions. The postdoc will join an interdisciplinary team working across responsible AI, AI systems engineering, and deployment-oriented machine learning. Eligibility requires a PhD degree or equivalent qualifications in one or more of the following areas: responsible AI , MLOps , or AI systems engineering . Applicants should have an internationally oriented research profile, experience independently managing research projects, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong technical skills including programming and familiarity with modern machine learning frameworks and software engineering practices. Applicants must submit a complete application in English, including a motivated application, CV, diploma(s), up to five peer-reviewed research papers, and a 1-2 page research proposal within the project framework. Funding details: the position is full-time and salaried under Danish university terms, with a starting salary of DKK 39,900 per month plus an 18.07% pension contribution .
