IMT Mines Alès is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for a 24-month fixed-term contract in the area of bio-inspired biocomposites based on secondary plant cell walls . The position is based at IMT Mines Alès in Alès, France, within the Centre for Materials of Mines Alès (C2MA) and the PCH and DMS research unit . The project is part of the French PEPR Bioproductions project WALLMAT . The postdoc will contribute to the development of nanostructured bio-based materials inspired by the hierarchical architecture of plant secondary cell walls. The role combines materials design , sustainable manufacturing process optimisation , and structure–process–property relationships . A major part of the work focuses on the in-depth characterisation of the resulting materials, particularly their mechanical properties , using tensile, flexural, and dynamic mechanical analyses. This opportunity is suited to researchers with a strong background in materials science , polymer engineering , or mechanical engineering , especially those with experience in materials processing and mechanical characterisation. The role also asks for expertise in polymer processing technologies including 3D printing , as well as skills in microstructural analysis and mechanical modelling . Knowledge of plant biology and/or plant biomechanics is also important for the biomimetic aspect of the work. The contract is a 24-month fixed-term position under public law , open to civil servants and contract employees, with a salary of €35,400 gross per year .
