PhD in Mechanobiology, Microfluidics, and In Vitro Modeling of Cancer Intravasation

PhD opening at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in mechanobiology, microfluidics, and advanced in vitro modeling of cancer intravasation. The project is part of the ERC-AdG research project “Intrap” and focuses on understanding how cancer cells move into blood vessels, a key step in metastasis. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team working on: - advanced 3D cell cultures in microfluidic chips - biophysical engineering of cell and matrix properties through biochemical and RNA treatments - live-cell microscopy and analysis, including live-cell reporters - mechanotransduction and mechanobiological analysis This position is especially relevant for applicants interested in biomedical engineering, biology, mechanical engineering, medical science, materials science , and related areas of cancer research and microphysiological systems. Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree or equivalent in biophysics, biomechanics, biomedical engineering, or mechanical engineering; strong research motivation; collaborative mindset; fluent English at C1 level; and interest in teaching/student coaching (10–15% of time). Experience with cell biology, live-cell imaging, microfluidics, and biophysical engineering of cells/ECM is advantageous. Funding and conditions: full-time employment for 4 years, salary scale P (€3,059–€3,881 per month), plus 8.3% year-end bonus and 8% vacation pay.
