Open postdoctoral position in landslide research and geohazards at the University of Potsdam , within the Geohazards Group. The project focuses on large landslide dams as part of hazard cascades, including earthquake-induced hazard chains and climatic influences. The successful candidate will join the DFG-funded international WEAVE project Geocascade and work in close collaboration with the Université de Liège, the Université catholique de Louvain, and the Swiss Seismological Service at ETH Zurich. Research activities include analysis of landslide catalogues, geophysical prospecting, and numerical modelling to estimate the consequences of large landslides on mountain rivers, including damming and sudden lake outbursts. This is a three-year postdoctoral researcher position at 100% TV-L E13 (100% of the DFG personnel rate). The post is aimed at candidates with a doctoral degree in geomorphology , geology , geophysics , or related disciplines. Strong quantitative skills are expected, with preferred experience in R or Python , remote sensing , slope stability , or data science . Applicants should be able to work with heterogeneous datasets and be willing to take part in interdisciplinary fieldwork in mountainous terrain.
