Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Multi-Omics Soybean Tolerance and Climatic Niche Adaptation

North-West University (Mahikeng Campus), Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Soil-Plant-Microbe Interactions group under Prof. Olubukola Babalola . The project is titled “Multi-Omics Mechanisms of Tolerance and Climatic Niche Adaptation in Soybeans: Addressing Soil Degradation and Farming System Challenges.” The work sits at the intersection of Agriculture , Biology , Environmental Science , Computer Science , and Statistics , with a strong emphasis on bioinformatics , multi-omics , machine learning , and agricultural genomics . Applicants should have a PhD in molecular agricultural biotechnology, agricultural genomics, computational biology, or a closely related multi-omics field. The post calls for experience in interdisciplinary research, analysis of agricultural datasets, Python and/or R machine learning libraries, git/version control, independent lab work, student support, and hands-on field/molecular biology plus programming skills. A publication record in bioinformatics, multi-omics, and machine learning is specifically requested. This is a fixed-term postdoctoral appointment with a stipend currently stated as R320 00.00 per year , with possible extension for a second and subsequent years up to a total of 5 years.
